• Program Design

  Our comprehensive dental assistant program helps students like you acquire the knowledge and skills needed to obtain an entry-level position in a fulfilling and growing field as a dental assistant. Students learn a wide variety of necessary skills, from dental office procedures and laboratory techniques to preliminary examination procedures, four-handed dentistry, dental charting, setting appointments, and keeping patient records.

  Dentists employ dental assistants as support personnel to perform a wide range of roles that are critical to providing quality dental care and excellent patient education. The specific duties of a dental assistant may range from administrative tasks to direct patient care to laboratory procedures, each aimed at helping the dentist deliver quality oral healthcare.

  Dental assistants can work in private and group dental practices, specialty dental practices, mobile dental units, insurance companies, hospitals, nursing homes, dental school clinics, and public and private health facilities.

  According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment of dental assistants is projected to grow 11 percent from 2020 to 2030, which is faster than the average for all occupations, adding about 36,900 new jobs.¹
